INVERNESS KENNELS
We began breeding Wirehairs in 1977. Jack and I both had experience with other retrieving
and pointing breeds and were amazed at how intelligent and adaptive the Wirehair
could be.
Our goal here at Inverness Kennels is “Versatility”. We want a dog that thinks, is
biddable, and looks like a Wirehair! We breed working dogs for the person who hunts
on foot and wants to have a versatile hunting partner with Brains, Conformation,
and an incredible sense of Humor.
We have hunted our Wirehairs on a variety of upland birds, and waterfowl. Our dogs
can work in the field, are competitive in the breed ring, and qualify in the obedience
ring.
When we’re not hunting, we enjoy, and participate in Versatile Hunting Dog Federation
(VHDF), AKC Hunt Tests, and North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA)
evaluations. The dogs from our kennels have earned a variety of titles showing their
versatile heritage in obedience trials and conformation events.
Health testing is an important part of breeding dogs. We health test our dogs, and
our youngsters are sold on non breeding contracts until they too can be health tested.
Along with health testing we breed for a stable temperament and a dog that will be
able to adapt to their new families lifestyle.
We are happy to show off our dogs and welcome visitors by appointment. Do expect
to answer many questions about you & your family, current pets, dog experience, any
past gwp experience along with your hunting/training skills and goals for a new puppy.
These questions will help us to guide you in selecting the right puppy for your hunting
needs.
